STEP 4:
Buy Your First Stock
First type in the stock "ticker" or "symbol" you want to buy in the top right hand side of the screen.
!!DON'T KNOW WHAT A STOCK TICKER IS - DON'T PANIC!!!
Every public company has a stock ticker or symbol. Ticker and symbol mean the same thing. The ticker is a 2-4 letter abbreviation of the company. For example the company named Salesforce has a stock ticker- CRM. The company FedEx has a stock ticker - FDX. You wont be able to buy stock in a private company, because private companies don't sell their stock to the public.
Public companies have a stock symbol, you can google any company, and find out if they are private or public.
You can google a public companies name and type in the words stock symbol next to the name, or go to yahoo finance and type in the company name, and it will translate the company name to the stock symbol for you! It is super easy to find a company stock ticker or symbol.
